Suspected illegal gambling den arrests
Two people have been arrested following a raid on a suspected illegal gambling den in Manchester city centre.
Greater Manchester Police, Gambling Commission enforcement officials and Manchester City Council Licensing team members conducted the joint operation at a premises in Chester Road on 28 May.
Inside were gambling tables, gambling chips, records, account books, alcohol, and other material. Cash and mobile phones have also been seized.
A 33-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Gambling Act 2005 and the Licensing Act 2003.
Sue Young, Gambling Commission Executive Director of Operations, said:
“Tackling all forms of illegal gambling is a focus for the Commission so we were keen to work in partnership with Greater Manchester Police and Manchester City Council on this operation.”
