National Licensing Week returns this year for week 8th – 12th June 2026

National Licensing Week (NLW) shines a spotlight on the people, partnerships and practices that make licensing such a vital part of everyday life. Whether you work in local government, enforcement, hospitality, events, transport, animal welfare or any other licensed sector, NLW is your moment to champion the work you do and the impact it has on communities across the UK.

Below is a quick run‑through of the five daily themes:

Day 1 – Positive partnerships
Partnership working sits at the heart of effective licensing. From regulators and police to businesses and community groups, collaboration is what keeps people safe and helps local economies thrive.

Day 2 – Tourism and leisure
Tourism and leisure contribute billions to the UK economy and support 1.6 million jobs. Licensing underpins everything from village fetes and caravan sites to major festivals, sports events and visitor attractions.

Day 3 – Home and family
Licensing touches everyday life more than most people realise — from animal welfare to home‑based businesses and family activities. It protects people and animals, often quietly in the background.

Day 4 – Night‑time
The UK’s night‑time economy is a cultural and economic powerhouse. Licensing shapes safe, vibrant nights out, covering alcohol, entertainment, late‑night refreshment, sexual entertainment venues, closure powers and more.

Day 5 – Business and licensing
Licensing regulates business activity of every size — from taxi drivers and small independents to national operators. It ensures fairness, safety and consistency across sectors.
