Pubs Code Adjudicator issues review of Pubs Code consultation reminder

The government has issued a final call for responses to its statutory review of the Pubs Code and the Pubs Code Adjudicator, with the deadline set for 14 August 2025.

The review, which covers the period from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2025, is required under the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015. It seeks to assess the operation of the Pubs Code, the performance of the Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA), and the regulations governing the PCA’s costs, fees, and financial penalties.

Tied tenants, industry representatives, and other stakeholders are encouraged to submit evidence and views on how effectively the Code and the adjudicator have functioned. The review aims to ensure that the regulatory framework continues to support fair treatment for tied pub tenants and remains fit for purpose in a changing hospitality landscape.

Alongside the statutory review, the government is also conducting a post-implementation review to evaluate the impact of the Pubs Code since its introduction in 2016. This includes examining whether the policy has met its objectives and whether continued regulation is necessary.

Responses can be submitted via the consultation page on GOV.UK until 11.59pm on 14 August. A report on the findings will be published and laid before Parliament in due course.
