Welsh Government publishes new driver training films

The Welsh Government has released a suite of new training films for taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) drivers, aimed at strengthening safeguarding awareness and improving accessibility standards across the sector.

The five‑part video series includes two safeguarding films focused on recognising and reporting risks to vulnerable passengers, and three accessibility and equality films designed to help drivers better support disabled passengers and comply with legal duties.

The films cover core themes such as identifying signs of exploitation, understanding responsibilities under equality legislation, assisting passengers with mobility impairments, and promoting respectful, inclusive service. They form part of the Welsh Government’s wider programme to raise professional standards and ensure consistent training across all local authority areas.

Alongside the release, the Government has updated its online guidance for Welsh local authorities, recommending that councils incorporate the new films into their driver training and licensing processes.
