Tobacco and Vapes Bill – LGA Frequently Asked Questions

The Local Government Association has produced a list of frequently asked questions for the Tobacco and Vapes Bill.

The FAQ list currently includes:

  • What do we know about the new licensing scheme?
  • Will there be further consultation?
  • What do we know so far about premises licences and personal licences?
  • What products will be covered by this new licensing scheme?
  • How will retailers be able to apply for a tobacco licence?
  • When will the new licensing scheme commence?
  • If a retailer currently sells tobacco products and vapes, will they be able to obtain the required licences under the new system?
  • Will there be a fee to apply for a licence?
  • Will the licences have conditions attached to them?
  • How long will the licences last?
  • Will there be the possibility of Review and Appeal?
  • Will there be financial penalties in relation to the licensing scheme?
  • Will there be a requirement for training or DBS checks for personal licence holders?
  • Have other countries introduced a tobacco licensing scheme?
