IoL to play leading role at PHTM Expo 2026
The Institute of Licensing (IoL) has confirmed its continued support for the PHTM Expo 2026 in Milton Keynes, reinforcing its commitment to shaping the future of taxi and private hire licensing.
A key highlight of this year’s programme will be the legislation Q&A session, where IoL President James Button and South East Region Vice-Chair Mike Smith will take centre stage alongside industry leaders. The session will focus on some of the most pressing issues facing the sector, including devolution, cross-border hiring, and the development of national standards—topics that remain at the forefront of policy and operational discussions across the UK.
Taking place at 2:30pm on Wednesday 13 May, the session will bring together policymakers and practitioners to explore “change coming” in licensing. With contributions from senior figures across the industry, the IoL’s involvement ensures that regulatory insight and practical experience are firmly embedded within the debate.
The Expo will also feature high-profile contributions from key stakeholders in transport policy, further underlining the importance of the event as a platform for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the taxi and private hire sector.
In addition to its speaking role, the IoL will once again be exhibiting at PHTM Expo 2026, offering members and attendees the opportunity to engage directly with the organisation, discuss current challenges, and learn more about its ongoing work to support licensing professionals.
IoL members and wider stakeholders are encouraged to register for the Expo, which promises a comprehensive programme of seminars, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
With legislative change on the horizon and increasing focus on consistency and standards across licensing authorities, the IoL’s active participation at PHTM Expo 2026 highlights its continued leadership in supporting a well-informed, effective, and forward-looking licensing community.
