Humberside Police launch new safeguarding assessment for local hotels
Humberside Police has become the first police force in the North of England to introduce contextualised safeguarding assessments across hotels in the region, strengthening its commitment to tackling child sexual exploitation and protecting vulnerable people.
The forcewide rollout follows Sexual Violence and Sexual Abuse Awareness Week earlier in the month, during which several local hotels participated in the assessment process. The assessments are designed to help hoteliers identify potential risks and enhance measures that prevent their premises from being used to facilitate offending.
As part of this initiative, the force is working closely with The Children’s Society to reinforce its preventative approach. The partnership ensures that best practice is embedded through specialist support, guidance, and training.
Findings from the assessments will contribute to the national intelligence picture, improving understanding of emerging risks and supporting ongoing prevention efforts under Operation Makesafe.
Detective Sergeant Jenny Rayworth from the Child Sexual Exploitation team said:
“Contextualised safeguarding assessments are a vital tool in helping us work with partners, businesses, and our communities to identify risk and prevent exploitation. Our partnership with The Children’s Society reinforces this commitment, and we are proud to be leading the way in the North by introducing these assessments to protect children and vulnerable people.”
