Home Office invites interest for Martyn’s Law guidance roundtables

The Home Office has opened a targeted call for participants to join a series of roundtable discussions that will help shape the forthcoming statutory guidance for the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, widely known as Martyn’s Law.

Selected representatives responsible for premises and events within scope of the legislation are being invited to contribute directly to the development of Section 27 statutory guidance. The sessions, delivered jointly by the Home Office and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), will allow attendees to review early sections of the guidance and provide feedback ahead of its formal publication.

The roundtables will run across multiple dates in February and March, with each session lasting around 90 minutes. Events will be held between 10:00 and 17:00 at locations throughout the UK.

Martyn’s Law received Royal Assent on 3 April 2025 and is designed to strengthen preparedness and protective security across the UK. The Act requires qualifying premises and events to take reasonably practicable steps to prepare for and respond to potential terrorist incidents. Larger venues and events will also be required to implement measures to reduce vulnerability to attacks. The Government has committed to an implementation period of at least 24 months before the Act comes into force, during which statutory guidance will be finalised and published.

An application form has been issued to manage expressions of interest and ensure applicants meet eligibility criteria. Due to expected high demand, eligible applicants will be selected at random, and Home Office staff will conduct due diligence checks as part of the process. The application window closes at 9am on Tuesday 27 January 2026.

Successful applicants will be notified during the week commencing 2 February 2026, with confirmation of their allocated session and venue. Those who do not receive a response will be considered unsuccessful.

All personal data submitted through the application process will be securely stored and processed, and applicants may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting MartynsLaw@homeoffice.gov.uk.

The Home Office has asked that the roundtables are not publicised on social media, and that the invitation is shared only through member networks or email channels.
