Home Office confirms extension of licensing hours for Women’s Euros final – if England or Wales reach the semis and/or the finals
The government has confirmed a proposed extension to licensing hours for the upcoming UEFA Women’s Euro tournament.
Following the publication of public consultation results, a Licensing Hours Order under section 172 of the Licensing Act 2003 will be issued. This order will allow premises to sell alcohol until 01:00 on the match days, rather than the usual closing time of 23:00, thereby providing additional time for patrons to enjoy post-match celebrations.
The extended hours will be applicable on the dates of 22 and/or 23 July 2025 for the semi-finals, and 27 July 2025 for the final. It is important to note that this extension is contingent on either England or Wales reaching the final stages of the tournament, and will apply exclusively to England and Wales.
