Evolution Malta Holding Limited will pay a £4.75 million settlement after its games appeared on six unlicensed websites accessible to consumers in Great Britain.
- Consultation launched on banning unlicensed gambling sponsorship DCMS has opened a consultation on prohibiting operators not licensed by the Gambling Commission from entering sponsorship or advertising arrangements across all sectors, including sport.
- LCCP change on removal of non‑compliant gaming machines A new licence condition (18.1.1) for non‑remote operators came into force on 29 July 2026. It requires businesses to remove non‑compliant gaming machines from premises upon written notification from the Commission.
- Sarah Fox to join the Gambling Commission Sarah Fox will be seconded from DCMS to lead Policy, Research and Statistics, and National Lottery regulation. Her appointment follows recent changes within the senior leadership team.
- Court of Appeal refuses TNLC permission to appeal The Court of Appeal has rejected The New Lottery Company Limited and Northern & Shell PLC’s application to appeal part of the High Court’s April 2026 judgment, which dismissed all claims relating to the 4th National Lottery licence competition and subsequent contractual modifications with Allwyn UK.
- Risk assessment 2026 published The Commission has released its 2026 assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing risks in the British gambling industry. The document is intended to support operators in developing their own risk assessments and understanding current sector‑wide risks.
- Action to tackle copyright theft Operators are reminded to use the online portal designed to prevent adverts appearing on websites offering unauthorised access to copyrighted content. Under LCCP 16.1.1, businesses must ensure responsible placement of digital advertising and are encouraged to sign up to PIPCU’s Infringing Website List.
- Illegal casino arrests in Bristol Two individuals have been arrested following an investigation into an illegal casino in Lower College Street. The operation involved the Harbourside Policing Team, Gambling Commission enforcement officials and SWROCU.
- Unlicensed gambling den raids in Doncaster Two city centre premises have been raided as part of Operation Snaresbrook, a joint initiative involving the Commission, Immigration Enforcement, South Yorkshire Police and Doncaster Council teams to disrupt illegal gambling activity.
- Reminder: industry proposals invited on reducing regulatory burdens The Commission continues to seek proposals from operators on opportunities to reduce unnecessary regulatory requirements while maintaining consumer protection. Submissions are requested before the end of September.
