Gambling Commission issues updated guidance for casinos and highlights new data work and podcast release
The Gambling Commission has issued fresh guidance for casinos operating money service businesses (MSBs), alongside updates on its latest data‑sharing work with the bingo sector and the release of a new episode of its Inside the Commission podcast.
The regulator has reminded casino operators that, following a notice first issued in February, any casino offering MSB services must be registered with HMRC and must now notify the Commission when they begin or cease providing those services. The update forms part of the Commission’s wider anti‑money laundering oversight and directs operators to further information on its AML webpages.
The newsletter also highlights ongoing work by the Commission’s Research and Statistics team, which has been collaborating with the Bingo Association to compare data from the Gambling Survey for Great Britain with industry‑held information. The project aims to improve understanding of how survey data aligns with operational data across the sector, with more detail available in a recent blog post.
A new episode of the Inside the Commission podcast has also been released, continuing a mini‑series exploring the regulator’s advisory panels. The latest instalment features Kirsty Caldwell, Interim Chair of the Industry Forum, and Andrew Jackson, the Commission’s Head of Secretariat, discussing how the Forum operates and how it supports the Commission’s work. The episode is available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
