Consultation: Safeguarding Training Standards for HC/PHV Drivers
The Department of Transport “Statutory Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Standards”, updated in November 2022 recommends that all licensing authorities should provide safeguarding advice and guidance to the trade and should require taxi and private hire vehicle drivers to undertake safeguarding training.
There is no National Standard for Safeguarding Training (Inc. Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking). The quality of such training varies from one authority to another and the training is generally not portable.
We have been working with the National Working Group Welcome to the NWG Network to explore if/how local licensing authorities and trades would benefit from a National training standard resource and, what this would look like.
We would be grateful if you could complete the survey accessed at the following link to assist this ongoing work.
