200th learner successfully completes IoL BTEC
The Institute of Licensing (IoL) is celebrating the 200th learner to complete its BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Animal Inspectors.
The IoL developed the BTEC level 3 Certificate for Animal Inspectors (SRF) which has been running successfully since May 2021. The qualification is accredited by Pearson, an OFQUAL provider, and meets DEFRA requirements outlined in the Regulations.
Andrew Poulton, Solihull MBC, our 200th learner to complete the course, said:
“I enjoyed completing the BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Animal Inspectors with the Institute of Licensing and really value the level of support provided throughout the journey. The course was informative, engaging and gave me a deeper understanding of the law, regulations and responsibilities involved.
“The course covered essential topics clearly, and the practical elements made it easier to follow and apply what I have learnt in real life situations. This is a growth area of licensing which is of real interest to me, and the course was a useful learning experience which I will rely on moving forward.”
Our BTEC course provides learners will all the knowledge and skills they require to be able to competently carry out their duties under The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.
Training includes 5 and a half days training delivery and learners are required to submit course assignments based on 6 practical inspections along with open questions for all 6 units.
Linda Cannon, the IoL’s lead tutor for the qualification, said:
“The Institute of Licensing is very proud and delighted to have just awarded our 200th pass on our popular OFQUAL approved, BTEC level 3 Animal Inspectors course.
“This is an achievement for all of those learners who have worked so hard on the written and practical assignments for this qualification, which is a statutory requirement under the Animal Welfare Regulations 2018.”
Achievement of this qualification enables those officers to be appointed as ‘Suitably Qualified Inspectors’ to inspect businesses providing licensable activities under the 2018 Regulations.
Paul Adams, IoL’s Chief Executive, said:
“The IoL has established itself as a leader in licensing training and the animal welfare BTEC is no exception. It has been hugely successful since its launch in 2001 and we pleased to see our 200th learner gain their qualification through the IoL.
“I want to congratulate all our learners who have qualified through the IoL and we look forward to the next 200 learners who will gain their animal welfare qualification through the IoL.”
Our 19th cohort of learners have started their learning in January this year and the next cohort is due to start in late May 2025. Bookings are now open to book on the IoL’s website.
