Job Introduction

We’re seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Principal Licensing Officer to join our Licensing Team.

You’ll be the Principal Officer in a team of five Licensing Officers who deliver licensing functions on behalf of the city council.

You’ll prepare and present at licensing committee hearings, lead on complex and technical licensing matters and public safety and lead on Safety Advisory Group (SAG) processes.

Full Professional Licensing Practitioner qualification or equivalent demonstrable knowledge in relevant specialist area is required.

Main Responsibility

  • Principal Officer of a team of five licensing officers to deliver licensing functions on behalf of MKCC.
  • Prepare and present at licensing committee hearings.
  • Lead on complex & technical licensing matters and public safety.
  • Lead on Safety Advisory Group (SAG) processes.
  • Full Professional Licensing Practitioner qualification or equivalent demonstrable knowledge in relevant specialist areas.

The Ideal Candidate

  • An experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated Principal Licensing Officer.
  • Have proven supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • You will be conscientious, influential and an excellent communicator with good attention to detail. 
  • You will have extensive knowledge and understanding of licensing and public safety legislation which will allow you to oversee complex cases, prepare policy and procedures.
  • Experience of Safety Advisory Groups would be an advantage.
  • For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business cover and use of a vehicle. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
