Licensing checks continue as Operation Vulcan targets non-compliance in Brinnington

Licensing enforcement activity remained a key strand of neighbourhood policing work in Brinnington during October, as Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Vulcan carried out compliance visits alongside partners including local authorities and immigration enforcement.

According to Greater Manchester Police, officers undertook a series of licensing and compliance checks on businesses and properties subject to closure orders as part of wider efforts to tackle criminality and improve community safety. The visits resulted in a 24-year-old being arrested for an immigration offence at an off-licence on Exeter Road. Further enquiries with partner agencies remain ongoing.

Officers also identified documentation discrepancies and suspected illicit tobacco sales at the same premises, with further enforcement activity planned.

In addition to business compliance work, officers visited properties on Falmouth Crescent and Gordon Street that are subject to closure orders. No breaches or offences were identified during the inspections, although police have confirmed that monitoring will continue.

The licensing visits formed part of a broader programme of activity undertaken by Operation Vulcan and local neighbourhood officers, which includes proactive patrols, warrants, partnership operations, engagement events and targeted action against drug-related offending. Police said drugs were seized throughout the month, leading to arrests, charges and other enforcement outcomes.
