National Lottery raises £485 million for good causes in first quarter of 2025–26

The Gambling Commission has published new figures showing £485 million was raised for good causes between April and June 2025.

According to the official statistics released on 5 August, the total raised in Quarter 1 of the 2025–26 financial year was £5.8 million (1.2%) higher than the previous quarter and £17.3 million (3.7%) higher than the same period last year. This brings the total raised over the last five quarters to £2.3 billion.

Funds are generated primarily through the sale of National Lottery games and are supplemented by sources such as unclaimed prizes. All proceeds are held in the National Lottery Distribution Fund (NLDF), which supports initiatives across sport, arts, heritage, health, education, and the environment.

Since its launch in November 1994, the National Lottery has raised over £51 billion for good causes. The Gambling Commission uses these quarterly reports to monitor income trends and ensure accurate and timely payments from the lottery operator to the NLDF.

The latest data reflects continued growth in contributions, reinforcing the National Lottery’s role in funding public benefit projects across the UK.
