We look at the proposals relevant to members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>English Devolution Bill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The English Devolution Bill will deliver the Government\u2019s manifesto commitment to transfer power out of Westminster and into our local communities, allowing them to take back control. It will also enable our towns and cities to thrive by strengthening mayoral powers, giving local leaders the tools to kickstart their economies, as well as empowering communities to transform their neighbourhoods, high streets and important community assets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crime and Policing Bill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Bill will deliver on our mission to take back our streets by halving serious violence and increase confidence in policing and the Criminal Justice System. It will give the police the powers they need to crack down on crime and anti social behaviour, whilst introducing new reforms to ensure that our law enforcement<br \/>agencies perform to the highest standards expected by the public and focus on<br \/>front-line policing.<\/p>\n<p>The Bill will set out early measures to help deliver on the Government\u2019s mission to halve serious violence over a decade, with strong action to tackle knife crime and violence against women and girls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bill will deliver the Government\u2019s manifesto commitment to bring in Martyn\u2019s Law, and strengthen the security of public events and venues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tobacco and Vapes Bill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bill will, amongst other things, strengthen enforcement activity, allowing Trading Standards to take<br \/>swifter action to enforce the law and closing loopholes. It will prevent underage sales of tobacco and vapes by providing enforcement authorities in England and Wales with the power to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for<br \/>the underage sale of tobacco and vaping products.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/media\/6697f5c10808eaf43b50d18e\/The_King_s_Speech_2024_background_briefing_notes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Read about all the Bills introduced.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>King\u2019s Speech unveils a raft of bills, setting out the new Labour Government&#8217;s legislative agenda.
