{"id":8958,"date":"2024-01-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/instituteoflicensing.org\/news_archive\/2024\/01\/29\/liverpool-city-centre-bar-has-licence-revoked\/"},"modified":"2024-01-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T00:00:00","slug":"liverpool-city-centre-bar-has-licence-revoked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/instituteoflicensing.org\/news_archive\/liverpool-city-centre-bar-has-licence-revoked\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool city centre bar has licence revoked"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"l-two-thirds l-offset-sixth\">\n<div class=\"c-news-article s-cms\">\n<p><span>A bar in Liverpool city centre has had its licence revoked following an investigation into violent disorder last month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>During an event at The Safe House bar on Victoria Street a large-scale altercation broke out in the early hours of Wednesday 27<sup>th<\/sup> December which continued on Peter Street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: black;\">A total of nine people have been charged to date in connection with the incident. A second hearing is expected to take place at Liverpool Crown Court on 2<sup>nd<\/sup> February.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><span style=\"color: black;\">The licensing decision was made at a meeting of Liverpool city council\u2019s licensing sub committee yesterday, Wednesday 24<sup>th<\/sup> January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Local Policing Inspector Jack Woodward said: <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"color: black;\">\u201c<\/span>Following a full hearing before Liverpool Licensing Sub Committee, and after a lengthy deliberation, it was decided that the premises licence for Safe House, 38-40 Victoria Street be revoked.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cThis was after Merseyside Police requested for the licence to be temporarily suspended in December.
