{"id":8893,"date":"2023-12-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/instituteoflicensing.org\/news_archive\/2023\/12\/01\/gambling-commission-consults-on-second-set-of-consultations-on-proposals-contained-in-the-white-paper\/"},"modified":"2023-12-01T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T00:00:00","slug":"gambling-commission-consults-on-second-set-of-consultations-on-proposals-contained-in-the-white-paper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/instituteoflicensing.org\/news_archive\/gambling-commission-consults-on-second-set-of-consultations-on-proposals-contained-in-the-white-paper\/","title":{"rendered":"Gambling Commission consults on second set of consultations on proposals contained in the White Paper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/consult.gamblingcommission.gov.uk\/author\/autumn_2023_consultation_lccp_rts\/\">has launched the second set of consultations<\/a> on proposals contained in the White Paper and is calling for views from consumers, gambling businesses and other interested groups.<\/p>\n<p>The consultations, which will run for 12 weeks, will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>socially responsible incentives \u2013 proposals relating to incentives such as free bets and bonuses, to make sure they do not encourage harmful or excessive gambling<\/li>\n<li>customer-led tools \u2013 proposals to empower consumers and make it easier for them to manage their gambling in ways that work for them, such as deposit limits<\/li>\n<li>transparency of protection of customer funds \u2013 proposals to increase transparency to consumers if their funds are held by licensees that offer no protection in the event of insolvency<\/li>\n<li>removing Commission requirements that would become obsolete due to the government\u2019s upcoming statutory levy \u2013 proposals to remove the current LCCP requirement to make annual financial contributions to a set list of research, prevention and treatment organisations<\/li>\n<li>regulatory data \u2013 proposal to harmonise across all operators the frequency of reporting of<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk\/guidance\/regulatory-returns-guidance\">regulatory returns<\/a><span> <\/span>from annual to quarterly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tim Miller, Gambling Commission Executive Director for research and policy, said:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cThe White Paper set out that a top government priority is ensuring that gambling happens safely. We share this commitment and today&#8217;s consultations propose how we can deliver on it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>&#8220;We need as many people as possible to have their say on any potential changes to the rules operators must follow.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>&#8220;These views will ultimately help shape gambling regulation across the country.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As set out in<span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk\/blog\/post\/looking-forward-to-our-second-round-of-gambling-act-review-consultations\">Tim Miller\u2019s blog earlier this month<\/a>, the Commission will shortly be launching a further consultation covering two topics relating to \u2018business as usual\u2019 matters.
