The LGA has recently updated its ‘Councillor Handbook: Taxi and Private Hire Vehicles (PHV) Licensing‘ to reflect new statutory standards published by the Department for Transport in July 2020.

This handbook aims to help Councillors understand some of the key issues concerning taxi and PHV licensing.

The LGA said “It is intended to be used as a starting point to explain some of the difficulties that can arise in this complex area of business regulation but is not a replacement for the training provided by a councillor’s own authority. I hope it is helpful and please do let me know if you have any questions.”
