Tobacco and Vapes Bill moves on to Committee Stage
The Tobacco and Vapes Bill had its second reading in the House of Commons on the 26th of November.
We previously reported that the Bill will introduce a new retail licensing scheme for sales of tobacco products.
The Government said the “landmark” Bill will take steps in creating a smoke-free UK and will, amongst other things, provide powers to introduce a licensing scheme for the retail sale of tobacco, vapes and nicotine products, extend the retail registration scheme in Scotland, and strengthen enforcement activity to support the implementation of the above measures.
This Bill was debated at second reading on Tuesday 26 November 2024 and has now been sent to a Public Bill Committee which will scrutinise the Bill line by line and is expected to report to the House by Thursday 30 January 2025.
