Preston shop found illegally selling alcohol
On Monday 28th October 2024, Preston Police Licensing, SDU and Neighbourhood Policing Officers attended an unlicensed premises on New Hall Lane, Preston. Following a search of the premises under Section 180 of the Licensing Act 2003 it was discovered that despite previous warning being given to the premises the previous week there had been multiple illegal alcohol sales over the weekend and alcohol remained on display.
As a result officers seized the shops inventory of alcohol and will be looking at prosecution under the Licensing Act 2003 and should conviction be obtained, we will request a deprivation order for the alcohol where it will then be given to appropriate charities
PC Ste Connolly, Preston Licensing Officer, said:
“It is disappointing that the premises opted to ignore our warning, prosecution for Licensing offences is a last resort however due to the circumstances, lesser action is not available to us”
