The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Licensing Team for a Team Leader to manage the delivery of commercial licence policy, applications and enforcement. About Southwark:

At Southwark we are committed to making our borough just and fair and are taking positive action to tackle inequalities. Our residents and communities are our greatest asset and the passion we have for Southwark is shared by millions of Londoners who enjoy our outstanding cultural offer, use our hospitals and attend our universities. Our refreshed borough plan and focus on Southwark Stands Together, (which is our work with Southwark’s communities and the council’s staff to tackle racism, injustice and inequality) underpins all that we do.

You must be able to show initiative in problem solving and decision making, along with sensitivity in managing contentious issues. Strong communication skills are important, and you will be required to work with other Council departments, government agencies, external partners and members of the public.

You will be prepared to represent the division, department and council on matters relating to commercial licensing and assist with the organisation and training of junior officers providing mentoring and guidance to processing and enforcement staff.

We are looking for an experienced and driven regulatory officer with current or recent experience in licensing regulation to lead the team.
