Job summary

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join the Licensing Team on a temporary basis up until 31st March 2022. This is a full-time post but we will consider part time working for the right candidate.

This post is being funded by a grant aimed at meeting the ongoing demands of licensing premises, temporary events and vehicles as they start to operate again following the Covid pandemic.

Day to day the role will include visiting licensed premises and other businesses to carry out license compliance checks and promoting Government Covid advice. Additionally, you will assist in investigating and monitoring complaints about licensed businesses. The Licensing Team deal with a variety of licence types including premises and events licensed under the Licensing Act 2003 (alcohol and entertainment), gambling premises, taxis, street traders and scrap metal dealers.

This post will involve travelling around the district daily so you will need a full driving license and access/use of a car for which an appropriate mileage allowance is payable.  In addition, some late evening or weekend working may be required.

You will have had previous experience in a licensing and/or enforcement role. You must have excellent communication and people skills and be able to give advice, mediate and take enforcement action as appropriate.
