Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is a busy unitary authority in east Lancashire. Blackburn and Darwen are vibrant towns surrounded by beautiful countryside and within easy reach of Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Preston, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and enthusiastic Senior Licensing Officer to play a key role in our licensing team. The team deals with most aspects of licensing within the Borough, including Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, taxi & private hire licensing, animal welfare, street trading and scrap metal.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own complaint case load. They will also carry out both proactive and reactive site inspections to ensure businesses are operating lawfully and be responsible for planning and delivering joint enforcement operations with the full range of partner agencies, both inside and outside normal office hours.

They will also support the Principal Officer and provide guidance and support to a small team of Licensing Public Protection Officers.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of all aspects of licensing, experience of working with the taxi/private hire and licensed premises sectors and have excellent stakeholder engagement skills. In return we can offer a friendly working environment and our commitment to a great work-life balance.
