Premises licence revoked following immigration visits 6th June 2018

A premises licence for a restaurant in Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex has been revoked by Rother District Council following a review hearing.

The premises had been inspected twice inside four months, and on both occasions had been found with immigrants working illegally, one individual being caught at both inspections. The Members heard compelling evidence from Police and Immigration Officers about the inspections.

The licence holder attempted to explain to the council that he though the workers were entitled to work but had no evidence to support his claims.

Members were satisfied that the licensing objectives were being undermined and had no confidence that, moving forwards, the management would change its methodology.
