Call for Evidence – Banning third party sales of pets in England 2nd March 2018

The Government has published a call for evidence: “Banning third party sales of pets in England” Website.

The Institute of Licensing has consulted its members on this call for evidence and will issue its response in due course.

The Institute of Licensing has previously surveyed its Members on a similar topic.

It has been reported in some quarters that the Institute of Licensing as an organisation supports the licensing of third party sales of dogs as opposed to a ban. This is not the case. The Institute of Licensing represents its members, and in most consultations will receive a variety of views. The publication of those different views does not necessarily represent the view of the organisation.

The Institute of Licensing will publish the results of its consultation on the call for evidence. It may be noted, however, that prominent members of the Institute, including Dan Davies, National Chair; Sarah Clover, Chair of the West Midlands Region, Gareth Hughes, London Regional Chair, Kay Lovelady, Chair of the North West Region, John Garforth, North West Regional Director, Clare Bradley, Chair of the Home Counties Region, David Chambers, Board Advisor in their personal capacity are all prominent supporters of the Lucy’s Law campaign and an immediate ban on third party sales of puppies.
