Job Description:
Stockton Borough Council are looking for an Assistant Licensing Officer to support the Licensing Service in the granting of licences, and compliance inspections of premises, vehicles and records. To investigate complaints regarding the breach of licence conditions and allegations of unlicensed activities.

The successful candidate will have experience in licensing or a related regulatory field, with the ability to understand and apply legislation. An understanding of Animal Activities legislation is desirable.

Practical experience in inspection and compliance would be advantageous and the successful candidate will be expected to work across the full range of licensing functions, organise and prioritise their own work-load and be able to operate in a fast-paced pressurised environment.

The successful candidate will need to be able to effectively communicate with the general public, applicants, partnership agencies and Members of the Council in an appropriate and confident manner. The successful candidate must also be able to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving with good negotiation and mediation skills.

This role will require some out of hours work and attendance at Committee and stakeholder groups. You must be resilient, flexible, a good team worker, self-motivated, self-disciplined with the ability to produce formal reports.

A full current driving licence and use of own car for the role is required.
